Put-in at the eddie on the down stream side of the bridge. Watch out for the thigh deep holes on the way across the grass!
In higher water condistions carry back up to the bridge cross over it and take the public foot path up to the power station. put on where ever you see fit . If you want to put on above the power stations then read Tongland gorge section!!
Description: Tongland Wave.
Grade: 3+
This wave runs year round in all but the very very driest spells. The catch is that you need the tide to be below about 2.5 meater at Kircudbright and the power stations needs to be releasing for the wave to be rideable.
The Tongland power station generates power for peak power demand, so often runs in the mornings, evenings and if there a big sporting event on TV at the weekend are all good times to check it out.
The wave can run on vairous number of turbines for 1 to 3 whith 1 or 2 being most common. The wave is good for blasting, blunts, loops and can handle any move you care to through at it. Moves can be hard to stick and the wave can a wee bit unpredictable at times!
At higher Water levels various other waves appear up stream, from big a green waves on river left and the 'ledge' a half river wide stoper!
If your not into paly boating Tongland can still offer a challenge but safe venue to working on bombproofing your roll in the jet down stream of the main jet.
I'm currently working on getting releas scedule for this sections.
